Marysia after leg amputation

The leg was amputated because the cancer had taken up the entire femur and spread to such an extent that the leg could not be saved. An interdisciplinary team in Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù and surgeons in Poland were unanimous in this decision. We considered all other possibilities. The final irreversible decision is deeply justified. Osteosarcoma is unfortunately a malignant tumor and amputation of the leg is not the end of the problems. We have to kill grandpa and be sure that no cancer cells are left in the body. Therefore, this is not the end of treatment. Marysia needs peace of mind, wound healing and then adaptive rehabilitation and a hip prosthesis.
